Prioritize Our Neediest, Please!

Dear City Council, Please prioritize services that take care of our most vulnerable community members - in particular Menlo Park’s working parents who rely on our childcare programs and the people who rely on our valuable Belle Haven community center services - ahead of park improvements or a parking garage, in your budget. Parks and garages can wait - a very long time. Bedwell Park is functional and beautiful as it is, and we need more visionary transportation and mobility solutions than just building more parking lots, anyway. As Menlo Park resident for 27 years, I believe it would be unconscionable to put either of those projects ahead of the vulnerable community members, including seniors, working parents and young children, all of whose lives will be set back significantly by such shortsighted cuts. We haven’t seen such dire circumstances in as long as I can remember. This is the time for visionary leadership to build a path to a better future for all.
