Re: My 21 March Call to Action

After I sent this email a local newspaper editor described my Call to Action as being “idiotic” and that I was being a “fear monger”. I have recently asked him how he now feels about the pandemic - he has declined to respond: From: Peter Carpenter Subject: Re: Coronavirus Map: How many cases are in Bay Area and California Date: July 2, 2020 at 7:52:38 AM PDT To: Dave Price Cc: In Menlo Dave, Why the silence? Peter On Jun 28, 2020, at 6:29 PM, Peter Carpenter Dave Do you still think that I was fear mongering? Peter https://projects.sfchronicle.com/2020/coronavirus-map/ Sadly editors like Price have helped lead us to the disaster that we now face. Peter On Mar 21, 2020, at 1:00 PM, Peter Carpenter Many of us have organized and trained as part of our local Cert organization. Our political leaders are unfortunately paralyzed at this time of crisis. I encourage each of you to activate your neighborhood organization NOW and to begin your final preparation for the epidemic wave that is fast approaching. Protect yourself, protect your family and then help protect your neighbors. The strength of America is not in our governments but in our people. You have been trained and organized to respond to disasters - NOW is the time to act. Peter Carpenter Peter Carpenter, CERT, HAM. You can’t be a responsible leader if you’re telling people to make their “final” preparations, as if life will soon be over. A leader at a time like this calms people and doesn’t worsen the panic.
