Meanwhile, the federal government is weakening environmental regulations and accelerating construction of fossil fuel projects. However, the leading climate policies of many Bay Area cities are already influencing state level policy - including Menlo Park’s early action on all-electric reach codes for new construction. Time is running out, and our best opportunity for effective climate action is for cities to lead the way with strong local policies. We applaud the bold and necessary actions proposed in Menlo Park’s Draft Climate Action Plan. It is concise, well-researched, actionable, time-bound and if implemented will further position Menlo Park as a climate leader.
