To the Menlo Park City Council:

Ive lived on Siskiyou Drive for 28 years. For the past 10 years, Ray Mueller has admirably represented the community and me. With two excellent and capable candidates (Sally Cole and Cat Carlton) already put forward to replace him by appointment of the Council, I believe it is imperative the Council find time between now and January 3 (Rays final day as Council member) to choose a successor. Were the Council simply to defer, and delay selection beyond January 3, I fear any appointment made without Rays voice will be widely seen as an irresponsible, rigged, and purely political decision made with suspect motives. In turn, a dark shadow would be cast over our new - supposedly improved - form of city governance with representation by district, in which each district supposedly receives a direct voice in its representation on the Council.
