Dear Councilmembers,
Please add my voice to those encouraging the City to expedite the repopulation of trees at the 101/Willow interchange.
Just last month, I mistakenly thought this project was for beautification purposes, and not what it really is: the long-overdue replacement of essential sound and light barriers removed during construction of the interchange back in 2016.
Councilmembers Combs and Taylor’s descriptions of the seven-year absence of physical and natural barriers to constant traffic on 101, and the impacts on nearby residents were alarming. As we learned though our Quiet Zone efforts, excessive noise has numerous ill-effects on health and quality of life.
I am very appreciative of the City’s efforts to advance the Quiet Zone, and hopeful that our neighbors near 101 can look forward to relief from extreme, and unnecessary, noise. Since funds are already budgeted to begin the restoration process, I respectfully request that those efforts begin as quickly as possible.
Sincerely,
Marcy Abramowitz
