Honorable Mayor and Council Members:
For over 50 years, the City Council meetings included a Pledge of Allegiance. Then came Covid-19 and they suddenly stopped due to virtual meetings. The last agenda with the Pledge of Allegiance was MARCH 26, 2020, per a recent email from the City Clerk, Judi Herren.
Today, perhaps more than ever, the importance and symbolism of this gesture is repeated by many across the country, including the majority of government agencies and special districts locally.
Please consider bringing this back. It only takes a few moments at the start of the meeting but can have special meanings to both you and those watching. If not, Id be grateful to know why. Please advise.
Respectfully, Jim Lewis
Member, Menlo Park Historical Association
