Honorable Mayor Wolosin and Council Members,
Can anything be done to REPAIR or REPLACE the deteriorated asphalt in the DOWNTOWN PARKING LOTS? Their condition is getting worse by the day, with cracks, ruts, holes, bumps, puddles and much more, all waiting for a large LAWSUIT to happen from someone INJURING themselves.
In one of the most affluent towns in America, it is difficult to understand how you can tolerate the present condition of the downtown parking lots. Frankly, you are RISKING tax payers money with the parking lots being the way they are. A large lawsuit settlement could easily result in being much more than the cost of fixing the parking areas.
Fresh painted lines although helpful, are not enough. MERCHANTS downtown that are struggling to survive are not helped by a lack of the City of Menlo Parks lack of a commitment to an attractive and safe parking area. Have you walked the 7 or 8 parking lots lately? Has there been an assessment of their condition? What is stopping you to do something sooner, rather than later?
Without a Chamber of Commerce fighting for a better downtown, standing up for, and defending the merchants, shoppers, store owners and others, who becomes the publics champion? Please ADVISE.
Respectfully, Jim Lewis
