Atherton Housing Element Oct 4 Meeting -- Potential Multi-Family Housing Projects Near Menlo Park

Dear City Council of Menlo Park and Senior Staff,

The Town of Atherton has included potential multi-family housing projects adjacent to Menlo Park.At least one is near the intersection of Bay Road and Ringwood. Ive heard, which might be incorrect info, that at least one involves a potential "builders remedy" solution.I ask if the Atherton Housing Element is on Council and Staffs radar screen in terms of the potential impact to Menlo Park, such as where the traffic goes For example, what if a new multi-unit structure was built adjacent to Bay road and near Ringwood Avenue with a new entry (to the development) from both roads? There are other potential impacts, such as construction traffic, dust, etc. .

While the projects might technically be in Atherton, the impacts could be considerable to Menlo Park The project(s) might be as if they were actually located in Menlo Park!

I am unable to attend the Atherton Town Council October 4 meeting at 4 p.m. Even if I could attend, my opinion would not be as impactful as an opinion from the City of Menlo Park possibly via a letter to Atherton

I write in case this topic has not yet come to your attention. Perhaps it is not a matter of concern right now. While you might all be "retired" by the time anything is built, I hope that Menlo Park will thoughtfully weigh in and at least attempt to raise potential concerns and negotiate in advance for mitigations that could be built into the Atherton Housing Element. Or, perhaps Menlo Park could write a letter that registered the Citys potential concerns and what Atherton could do to mitigate the impact.
