Dear City Council members,

Unfortunately, I am unable to attend the meeting tonight, but I did want to voice my approval for the affordable housing plan being considered by the council. I think it is critical that we help to provide housing for the people who work in our city, that would include police and fire personnel, teachers, nurses, and the folks that actually work in the shops along Santa Cruz Ave.! I know there is concern about environmental impacts, and that more people may mean more traffic, but I believe that if we can provide housing for people who work in our city that they then have the option of riding a bike or walking or even taking local transit. I believe that many of those individuals who can’t afford to live here are driving great distances in order to work here. I applaud you for taking this bold step and utilizing the land that we do have in a much more productive way.
