Dear Council,
I was hoping to attend last nights meeting, but wasn’t physically up to it. I had been hit by a motorist while riding my bike to work and ended up on their windshield. Its taking longer than expected to recover.
Regardless, I’m writing to voice my support for affordable housing on downtown parking lots. Making the downtown more accessible and inviting for families on foot or by bicycle is a worthy objective for revitalizing the area. Even today, I see how Trader Joe’s is always packed with patrons approaching by foot or bicycle. The rug stores and other stuffy old businesses, not so much. I frankly have no empathy for affluent retirees’ ability to access Draeger’s to pick up their Chablis and crudites.
Whether there is ample parking or not is beside the point. I am more interested in invigorating the district as a destination for families and businesses and build more housing for community members in need, myself working for the high school district included.
Thank you for your consideration.
Best regards,
David Pollack
