Dear City Council Members and Senior Staff,
In advance of Monday’s Goal-Setting Meeting, and on behalf of the Felton Gables Homeowners Association and representatives of the
Stone Pine neighborhood, I am sending for your consideration the attached one-page information sheet advocating that the City add
an Encinal Quiet Zone project to its list of projects for 2018.
A Quiet Zone could be a significant, yet quick, and relatively inexpensive win for Menlo Park, improving quality of life for many
residents. As Rick DeGolia, Atherton Councilmember, stated about Atherton’s installment of the Fair Oaks Quiet Zone, it “has made
a more direct improvement on quality of life than just about any other project we’ve done.” As Atherton now actively pursues a
Quiet Zone at Watkins Ave, Menlo Park’s move to establish a Quiet Zone at Encinal Ave would advance the vision of a shared Menlo
Park-Atherton “Quiet Mile” becoming a reality, and a first of its kind in the Bay Area.
Many neighbors on both sides of the tracks would be happy to help with research, grant-writing or other needed elements of support
in getting this project moving in the coming weeks and months.
Respectfully,
Marcy AbramowitzBoard Member,Felton Gables HOA
