Dear City Council Members:
Concerning the goal of “congestion relief/management,” while I am in favor of minimizing cut-through traffic on neighborhood streets, I do not see travel time on city streets to be a general problem. There is of course a problem on ECR and on Willow Road with congestion, but our city streets are not generally congested. (Willows neighborhood streets have at times in the past been congested due to cut-through traffic, and this should continue to be monitored.) I would prefer to see traffic on city streets slow down, and greater enforcement of traffic laws on city streets, especially speeding and stop sign running. The goal of reducing delays for drivers must not compromise the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists, in particular, children trying to get to and from school. Thank you for your efforts.
