Middle Ave. Public Safety Improvements

[image: image.png] While I am confident this council will continue the practice of improving public safety, after my experiences today, I wanted to voice my support for the solutions that place pedestrian and bicyclist safety above other public use of Middle Ave. I also wanted to express that excellent design is probably not enough. Enforcement is needed too. I was nearly broadsided on Bryant in Palo Alto this morning by a car that didn't heed a stop sign. A week ago my wife and I were nearly hit head on (also on Bryant) by a car that once again -- blew a stop sign. This afternoon (on my bike again), I signaled left and was stopped on Oakdell, waiting for traffic to clear. A car came up behind me and started to cut inside (i.e. to my left and rolling through the stop) to make a left turn. His view northbound was restricted by a brush cutting crew so he really didn't see that there was south/westbound traffic on Santa Cruz that would have hit him if he continued on his way. tx, Nate Gardner (image/png attachment: image.png )
