My family lives in Sharon Heights in Menlo Park, where we have lived for the past decade.
Thank you for your efforts on behalf of our community.
As you know, there has been a significant increase in robberies in our neighborhood, including many neighbors of mine. Recently, I personally witnessed a person casing out our block using a video camera to brazenly film side entrances, driveways, etc. The police responded, but the suspect managed to disappear.
Flock cameras are an effective deterrent to break-ins. We support their installation in Sharon Heights which is uniquely predisposed to their effective use.
With only five access points into Sharon Heights (Monte Rosa, Sharon Park Drive, Sharon Road, Avy and Valparaiso), ~41,000 Sharon Heights residents can be protected from robbery by the installation of five Flock camera systems at a cost of ~$12,500 per year, or less than 30 cents per annum per resident, and less than $1 per Sharon Heights household per year. This is a small price to pay for our peace of mind.
I am aware that the flats of Menlo Park are more complex to monitor with Flock due to the multitude of access points, but perhaps Flock can offer recommendations to increase the security of these areas as well.
We will vote for officials who support the safety of Menlo Park.
Sincerely,
Richard Murawczyk
