For City Council consideration, direction to the City Manager to draft a support letter to legislature on behalf of the City Council, for the Mayor's signature on behalf of the City Council, in support of California SB 1392 - Peace Office Decertification (Sen. Bradford). SB 1392 would create a statewide process to automatically revoke the certification of a peace officer following the conviction of certain serious crimes or termination from employment for cause or misconduct. (See SB 1392 Fact Sheet Attached, text of the Bill has been amended by the Author. A request has been made of current text for council consideration) Additionally, should the Council support the text of the bill upon review, we would propose the City Council consider direction to the City Manager for a letter from the City Council soliciting support for SB 1392 to other cities in San Mateo County.
