Hello Council Members,
This is Mitchell Bearg from Bow Wow Meow. As we move into fall and we see no relief from the challenges that the pandemic has created for us all I am writing to express my opinion that come November that the street should be reopened to traffic so that the retailers and restaurants will be more accessible during the time when the outdoors is less hospitable. I think having the restaurants have larger permanent parkletts while opening the street will be the most effective way to support all the small businesses along Santa Cruz Ave. It will make running into businesses to do errands, dine or pick up takeout food easier and thus more appealing to the community. If you feel continuing to close portions of the street is necessary then why not close them from Friday-Sunday when it is far more likely to get utilized? Let's help bring some energy to the street and make it easier for the residents to access the businesses along santa cruz ave and open the street while giving the restaurants bigger permanent parkletts?
