Hi,
I am a long time Menlo Park resident and frequent user of the Burgess pool. I also used the Belle haven pool, during the pandemic, when reservations were necessary. I look forward to going to Belle Haven again, once the new pool is open.
Burgess pool is a well run and welcoming facility. Im always impressed by the professionalism, safety, and overall maintenance of the pool facility. The current operator of the pool, Menlo Swim and Sport (Tim Sheepers organization), does a wonderful job of running this very busy facility, making it open to people of all ages, abilities, and interests.
Whether it is a weekday morning, when there are many adults using the two pools - open swim, Masters, and AquaFit, or an afternoon, when many children/teens are participating in youth swim team, birthday parties, or open swim, the pool is a happy and busy place.
During the height of the pandemic, Tim Sheeper did an outstanding job getting both pools (Burgess and Belle Haven) up and running with a reservation system. The pools operated safely and in full compliance with public health directives.
I am both a Masters swimmer as well as a free lane swimmer. There is always plenty of room for everyone to swim and an enjoyable facility on the lawn and by the picnic tables. Visitors that have gone to the pool with me are always surprised that this is the city pool. The comfort of using the pool facility (lawn area, nice lounge chairs, picnics under the trees) is very similar to expensive private pool facilities in our area. I am glad this has been a gem in the heart of Menlo Park and hope it will continue to run under the current management with the same wonderful staff.
I am in full support for Tim Sheepers business to continue to run the pool facilities. The pool employees are happy and friendly and would be sorely missed as well.
Best regards,
Kathy Engelmann
