Hi - thank you for your service. I am writing in support of efforts to require electric or zero emissions models to be installed when any gas appliance is replaced in existing homes and buildings, effective January 1, 2024. That said I think important carveouts should be stipulated e.g,
- Provide financial assistance where needed
- Allow exemption for technical infeasibility
- Include board community outreach and communications as an important preface and part of the process
- Stipulate that if a neighborhood doesnt have adequate infrastructure to support 100% electric appliances, then they should be exempt until such infrastructure is in place e.g., some coastal and farming communities in the county have been without power for weeks at a time during the recent storms.
