City council members, please do not allow housing in sites 67 through 72 at this time. In the general plan use designation in table 7-1 of the housing element sites 67 -72 are designated as “Bayfront Area”. That feels too close to District 1. It would be an asset to district 1 and 2 to have retail services in that area that residents near by could frequent instead of having to cross the railroad tracts to get services and still shop in Menlo Park.
The commercial zoning on Willow Road in District 2 and 3 serves the residents in these districts as well as district 1. Please do not add housing to the mix. The housing element is coming around again in 8 years and looking at changes in the future, after this housing element proves itself, these sites can be looked at again.
