Child Safety, the City & Countys LOWEST Priority Should Be the HIGHEST

Gentlemen & Ladies ...

I sent the thoughts below to some 20 other Menlo Oaks residents, yesterday.
Ive been asked to forward a copy to all of you as well.
Ive tried to be especially concise here:

Child Safety, for Kids Walking & Kids on Bikes seems to be the LOWEST PRIORITY OBJECTIVE
for the County, City, Bike Committee and Consultants, when it should be the HIGHEST.
With that Objective in mind, the ONLY Solution that makes ANY REAL SENSE to me is ...

Designating Coleman Avenue as a School Access Street ...
and Closing Coleman to all vehicles ...
at least, during Morning & Afternoon School Rush Hours

Yes, closure during School Rush Hours, will cause long-term inconveniences
for all residents, both outside and within the Menlo Oaks Neighborhood.
But the Child Safety Objective, in my opinion, more than justifies such inconveniences.

No, "School Access Street" is NOT YET an official street designation like "Arterial" or "Collector."
But its about time other priorities than automobiles, trucks & emergency vehicles are included.

I sent similar thoughts to BPAC, maybe 6 +- months ago in writing.

I conclude that City & County Officials are NOT Really Listening to
the opinions of local residents, parents and grandparents and theyre ...

NOT placing a High Enough Priority on Child Safety.

Thanks for your continued involvement and diligence ...

Jim Strahorn ... 45 Years at 1021 Coleman Ave, Menlo Park (county, not city)
