Dear Menlo Park City Council,
I am Alberto Puggelli, a resident in Central Menlo Park.
I am writing to express my concern related to the project of converting the 3 parking lots north of Santa Cruz in the downtown area to affordable housing.
First, I am concerned about the reduction of public park spacing. The project is supposed to provide parking, but those slots are just barely matching the number of to-be-built units. The new residents will take almost the entirety of those spots. I would like to see in the project the plan to replace also public parking space, to match what is currently available.
Second, I am worried about traffic and viability. The project would add a substantial number of residents just at the center of the city, overwhelming the already seriously challenged viability. El Camino is chronically stuck with traffic, access ways to reach 101 or 280 will be further burdened, more than what they already are. What is the plan to increase viability and avoid just cramming more people in an already packed area?
Thanks for the attention.
Best regards,
Alberto Puggelli
