City Council Members,
As a lifetime Menlo Park resident, I implore you to reject the idea of building high density low income housing in our downtown plazas! We have limited parking as it is and it seems approximately 25-35% of our current downtown is shuttered for many reasons, but limited parking is definitely a major issue.
I am certain the contractor bids will include some public parking, but the time it will take to build these projects and return the parking to our local residents is untenable. As I watch my neighborhood being inundated with construction, trucks, workers and an increasing homeless population coupled with the road closures for sewer replacements, tree trimming, and cyclist/pedestrian upgrades our already traffic filled downtown is constantly clogged. In addition, parking spaces downtown are rare and often filled with workers vehicles all day. As a resident, its often so difficult to travel downtown that I will skip it entirely and order delivery of everything from sneakers to groceries.
Please allow the residents who will be the ones paying for this in taxes, time and inconvenience weigh in with their opinions.
Best,
Missy Whitenight
