Dear City Council,
I oppose the plan to convert the downtown parking lots into housing.
First off, the lack of convenient parking will hurt those businesses near those lots. The loss of revenue may drive some of those businesses that are already struggling out of business.
Second, there is too much development already going on in Menlo Park (e.g., Sunset Magazine Building, SRI Campus, etc.) that will further compound already poor traffic conditions. All of it is degrading the quality of living in our neighborhood.
Third, it does not appear there has been adequate consideration of all possible alternatives to this proposal. Before you irrevocably change the nature of the city, you owe it to us residents to have a carefully studied plan.
