Dear Menlo Park city councilmembers:
I’m writing to support building homes on Menlo Park’s downtown parking lots. Please proceed with the process (as outlined in your housing element) without further delay.
I encourage you to dedicate as much land as possible to developing new housing. The city owns acres of land downtown, and building affordable homes is the best possible use of that space.
Communities thrive when the people who work and play there can also afford to live there. Affordable homes help the community stay housed, reducing local homelessness and allowing more of our children, working families, and seniors to stay here. A livable downtown not only generates its own business, but attracts people from elsewhere in the Bay Area.
Menlo Park can be part of a bigger solution to ensure everyone has a safe, stable place to call home by promoting housing on our downtown parking lots.
