To whom it may concern,
I am both a Menlo Park resident (with my wife and two children) and business owner (Lux Capital, a $2.5 billion venture capital firm). I’ve been made aware that the city will soon be discussing the outdoor dining spaces and street closures in downtown Menlo Park.
In our view (both my family and my employees), the creative and charming outdoor dining locations have been a godsend, adding vibrancy to an area that easily could have become a ghost town in light of the serious health concerns from COVID. I genuinely believe the new structures and dining locations have created a dramatic (positive) improvement to the quality of life and attractiveness of Menlo Park.
I strongly request that the city allow restaurants to maintain their outdoor dining structures. The alternative is empty restaurants, failed businesses and lost jobs – an extremely negative outcome for Menlo Park and all of our residents and office workers.
