Dear City Council Members,
It is 11:31 pm and I am listening to the train horn blast as the train goes through Menlo Park. I can hear it clearly, inside my house, with all my windows closed, and in a room that is facing away from the train. I am more than two blocks from the railroad tracks. The horn has been blasting continuously for about five minutes, while it makes its way through town.
Just multiply that by the number of trains that go through Menlo Park each day and you can see why we need a Quiet Zone for Menlo Park. Such a zone will improve the quality of life for those living, and/or working, near the trains as well as addressing the safety of those crossing the railroad tracks.
Please take this opportunity to meet this long-standing need that has only become more urgent over the years.
