To my city council members,
I have heard through the Housing Element Survey that Sharon Park is being considered as a possible building site. While I do not oppose affordable housing and understand that we have need of more housing, we also need to preserve our open spaces. West of El Camino we have Nealon Park and the park near Rosner House.
Public school property is not available for the general public any more. So west of Alameda, we have Sharon Park, which is used by residents from all parts of the city, and the park at Sandhill and Brenner, which is used primarily in the development South of Sandhill.
A mixed use development in the Sharon Height Shopping Center makes more sense. The shopping center appears to be struggling. It is also near transit routes.
This area already has several multi family developments adding population density to Sharon Heights.
Respectfully,
Margaret (Katie) Chilton
