Hi,
My family and I have lived in Menlo Park for more than 20 years, and we are currently in the Sharon Heights neighborhood.
In recent months, there have been invasive home robberies of my nextdoor neighbor and a home down the street, as part of a broader increase in home robberies in our area. My neighbor had her jewelry stolen, including irreplaceable heirlooms from her family. Despite repeated calls for FLOCK security systems that would capture license plate numbers of criminal gangs who appear to be behind this rash of home invasions, nothing has happened that is effective in combatting these brazen crimes. As almost all other targeted communities on the Peninsula have installed enhanced security systems, criminal gangs are now looking to the easy unprotected targets in Menlo Park.
For those residents who don’t want license plate readers due to privacy concerns, there is nothing that is a greater invasion of privacy than having your home broken into and irreplaceable personal items stolen.
I implore you to support the residents of Menlo Park in putting an end to these traumatic breakins. I pay more than $50k in property taxes to the city of Menlo Park every year, and should not have to suffer the lack of effective preventative security measures.
I will support every city council member who votes in favor of FLOCK security systems, and the opponents of every council member who does not.
Best regards,
Melanie Vinson
