Hi Deanna,
The purpose of my email is to clarify the current timeline and extension process for Bistro Vida’s temporary outdoor patio dining permit. I listened the the City Council meeting last week and wanted to make sure that the permits for already completed structures (like our new addition) are officially extended until the end of the year. I wasn’t sure if the vote was official or if it the City Council will officially vote in conjunction with the street closure in their next session.
We are planning to add a retractable awning to cover both patios and install heaters so we can continue to use the outdoor dining area when the weather cools down and in preparation for the rain. We would like to move forward with the project with official confirmation that we won’t need to remove the structures before the end of the year and we're happy to complete any extension paperwork and pay the associated fees in order to continue using the two additional parking spaces adjacent to our original parklet, in front of Walgreens. The costs associated with these additions are estimated to be between $20-30,000, so we’d like to make sure any further investment in the future of our outdoor dining is secure.
Please let me know what the application process entails, the associated fees, and the timeline so we can complete it as soon as possible. I truly appreciate everything the City of Menlo Park, City Council, and Chamber of Commerce has done to support our business through this pandemic and look forward to the opportunity to serve this great community for many years to come.
Thank you,
Ali El Safy
