Urgent Need for Pavement and Walkway Improvements on 17th Street

Dear Menlo Park City Council Members,

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the lack of adequate pavement and walkways on 17th Street in Menlo Park (94025), an issue that significantly impacts the quality of life for residents, especially those with mobility challenges.

As a resident of Menlo Park, I have firsthand experienced the difficulties faced by my mother-in-law, who is fully paralyzed and enjoys the simple pleasure of being outdoors. Unfortunately, the absence of proper walkways on 17th Street and surrounding areas poses a considerable obstacle to her mobility, severely limiting her ability to explore the outside comfortably.

This situation not only affects my family but also other residents who face similar challenges, diminishing their ability to participate in everyday activities that many of us take for granted. The installation of well-maintained pavements and accessible walkways would not only enhance the mobility of residents with disabilities but also improve overall pedestrian safety and contribute positively to our community’s inclusivity.

Therefore, I urge the City Council to prioritize the development of pedestrian infrastructure on 17th Street. Creating a safe and accessible environment for all should be a paramount concern, ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful city to its fullest.

Thank you for considering this crucial issue. I look forward to your support in making Menlo Park a more inclusive and accessible community for everyone.

Sincerely,

Best,
