In support of bike lanes along both sides of Middle Ave

Hello City Council,
I just saw yesterday’s article in the Daily Post that the Council is considering removing parking alongside Middle Ave to make separated bike lanes.  I urge you to do this on both sides of the street, to the maximum extent possible.
In the design process, I would also urge you to consider where trash cans can be placed so that they do not entirely block the bike lanes for 2 days per week.
I recently biked from the Linfield Oaks neighborhood to Hillview and back during the school rush times.  I was shocked by how technically difficult the ride is, with kids en mass having to navigate some streets without bike lanes and trash
cans and other obstacles blocking other bike lanes.
I would welcome a safer route that runs east/west.  Having a safer route would make me comfortable allowing children to bike to sport practices at Nealon Park (currently the ride is too dangerous).  This will be especially important when
the residents of those numerous apartment buildings along El Camino move in.  If those residents do not feel safe biking to downtown Menlo Park, we will continue to see increased traffic congestion and those who bike will be less safe.
Thank you,
Christy Peetz, Menlo Park resident
