Dear Members of the Menlo Park City Council,
I am writing in support of Carol Orton’s application for Library Commission. I do not know Carol well, but I was aware of her activities in the Menlo Park Community many years ago when I served on the Menlo Park Atherton Education Foundation and was impressed with her commitment to schools and children at that time.
Recently Carol contacted me because she saw my name listed as a current Library Commission member and she asked if she could meet with me to learn more about the Library Commission. We met for an hour and I was truly impressed with her questions about the commission and its duties, as well as asking about my experience on the Commission. Subsequent to our meeting, I saw her in person attendance at a Library Commission meeting at the Belle Haven Library. She also shared with me her experiences working as a library volunteer, and her passion for contributing to her community in a meaningful way.
Given her outreach to me, her attendance at Library Commission meetings, her volunteerism in local libraries, and her very impressive resume, I think Carol would make an outstanding Library Commission, and I encourage you to appoint her to the Commission at tonight’s meeting.
