Dear Menlo Park City Council,
Please accept this letter in support of the requested increase in staffing for the Library and Community services being considered for the 2023-24 budget. I feel it is crucial to approve the funding currently sought for 6 FTE necessary to support future operations at both the Main Library and the MPCC when it opens. Without the necessary staff, it will prove impossible to provided services at both facilities as the community expects and needs.
I am a member of the Menlo Park Library Commission and Board Member for the Menlo Park Library Foundation, and I have participated in activities where the proposed budgets and vital staffing needs have been addressed in public forums. While I don’t speak for either of those bodies, as an individual I feel it is urgent to make sure those staffing needs are met.
I thank you in advance for your consideration of this important issue, and I appreciate how difficult your jobs are to create the budget for our City to be both fiscally responsible and a place where services meet the needs of the community.
