City Council Members,
If the public parking lots, which are heavily used, can be declared surplus land available for housing to correct the massive housing imbalance caused by the huge developments of office space approved by the city council over the years (Meta and Bohannan complexes, for example) surely three acres in Burgess Park could be declared surplus land instead.
Using playing fields that are not as heavily used as the parking lots would
provide transit orientated housing without further degrading the downtown, which has yet to recover from the pandemic. The merchants and businesses cannot be expected to survive years more of disruption and a future of inadequate customer parking.
