I shop and SPEND money weekly in Menlo Park…hair salon, consignment stores, Penzey’s, Kepler’s books, lunch, Coffee Bar, Trader Joe’s to name a few. In almost all cases, I have to search for parking, usually not more than 5 minutes, but I need to search. I actually avoid MP on weekends and lunch time because IT IS very difficult and frustrating to find parking, especially when you have an appointment.
Removing parking lots will make parking a complete disaster!! Why would I come to an area where I would need spend a majority of my time trying to park, walking far to destination? We have downtown Palo Alto for that!
Businesses will completely suffer! I myself would find other options and just go to MP for only necessary appointments, every 6 -8 weeks, or until my hair salon moves to a better area which supports businesses and their clients.
We absolutely need more affordable housing. However, it should not come at the expense of businesses, customers and residents.
I will be at the meeting on 1/14/25 to provide another voice against this seriously ridiculous plan. Really, who came up with this plan…and thought it was a great idea??!!!!
