I am not in favor of ever wasting money of research or any sort of surveys. I have had to do many of these while in Palo Alto for redistricting etc and in the end it is a total waste of time and money. It is clear that pickleball is popular and it is a great sport, easy to learn, fun for all ages, great for families and can be done with being considerate of neighbors etc. I owned a tennis club in Southern California for over 22 years and we had 28 tennis courts. The club has since changed tennis courts for pickle courts and just recently I heard that the Balboa Bay Club that also had 30 some tennis courts have converted their tennis courts to pickle (not all courts but they now have over 30 pickleball courts. It’s clearly a trend. You can play in a shorter amount of time and more folks are willing to wait for their chance to play as opposed to tennis (where people play games) starting the score over and playing for well over an hour. Nobody wants to wait so they leave.
Add pickleball courts, set good boundaries and skip wasting time and money of surveys!
