We are A.C.E. (short for Athletes Community Environment), a student-led, non-profit organization that is committed to bringing sustainability to the local athletic community.
One of the ways we aim to do this is by setting up tennis ball recycling bins at local courts to reduce the waste created by used tennis balls. Our first location will be at Menlo-Atherton High School tennis courts, but we soon plan to expand to other courts around Menlo Park.
In the future, we will also organize used sports equipment drives. Every month we will have a collection day where donors (anyone from the community with used or outgrown sports equipment) bring their old equipment to us. Some of the goods will be donated to Bay Area schools and community organizations in need, and the rest will be open for the community to take for free at a distribution day. By doing this, we hope to support under-resourced athletes while also reducing the waste generated by old sports equipment.
