Dear City Council, I am a resident of the Belle Haven neighborhood and am firmly opposed to any development moratorium for District 1. I am born and raised in the Bay Area and these last 20 years have seen the changes that has happened in the area. I have many friends who are nostalgic for the past and have been displaced due to rising housing cost and longer commutes. Stopping development was not the answer in the past and is not the answer today. I am in support of local development that can bring needed amenities to our community. While traffic is an issue, we do not need a moratorium on development to address traffic issues. Focus on the Dumbarton Corridor Project. The majority of the traffic comes from people commuting to their jobs in the Peninsula. Blanket action is not an effective way to address the community's concerns. Work with the businesses to help mitigate traffic and create sustainable ways for families to really engage in our neighborhood. Please do not let perfect be the enemy of good. There is no perfect solution to the issues facing our community that will leave everyone happy. Please do not freeze our community for another 2 years in hopes that the need for more development would disappear or change. Please do not issue a development moratorium. Our community can benefit so much from it. Yours truly, Bonnie Lam Hamilton Ave Received on Tue Jun 11 2019 - 17:01:54 PDT
